Demo Reel Spring 2010

Watch my entire portfolio condensed into 1 minute, complete with party music! Dancing while watching this is definitely encouraged. There’s a lot of new projects in here, too!

Jaga Jazzist Concert Poster 2011
More Images:

Together with one of my favorite bands, Jaga Jazzist, I made this concert poster for their first NYC show in over 5 years. Using several generative algorithms I wrote in Cinema4D, I created colorful polygon shapes which evoke Jaga’s exciting and dynamic music. Afterwards, the logo and 3d elements were composited with some public domain images from NASA and informational typography about the concert.

Game Of Thrones: The Wall

Launch Project
Made as a precursor and teaser site for HBO’s Game Of Thrones, The Wall allows the user to live the life of a member of The Night Watch, a group of guards who keep watch on the wall. I was responsible for designing and creating all the 3D assets and textures which make up The Wall, in addition to story-boarding, pre-vis, and modeling / texturing duties for the intro sequence.

The Conductor
More Images:

A stop-motion story of a small robot’s quest to bring music to the world. Comprised of over 5000 photos, the entire film was shot according to specially-formatted sheet music that corresponded to the music of the film. I was responsible for the entire production, from conception to model-making, music and post-production.

Diaper Extravaganza
More Images:

How much more action-packed could a diaper demo video be?! This video was made as a quick demonstration of a series of animations I did for Huggies, which were integrated into an interactive “virtual diaper tour.” Yes, they have virtual diaper tours now. I modeled and textured the diaper, and animated it using a complex xpresso-based rig. This enabled me to animate with a much greater flexability than if I had used just straight key frames and mesh warps.

Check out the blog entry I wrote about diaper rigging!

Doug The Dino
More Images:

Doug the Dino’s urban home has been invaded by the evil trash monster, Truckrah! Find Doug’s anti-Truckrah weapons and accessories and save the day in style! Made with the lovely Rachel Nash, I served as Art Director and Developer. I developed the concept, wrote all the code, created many background elements and all animations in the dress-up area, and modeled and textured the characters in 3D.

Reeve Rocks Visuals
More Images:

Are you ready to rock?! Luxurious Animals asked me to make a bunch of audio-visualizations to project behind the bands at the annual Reeve Rocks concert in NYC, put on by the Chris & Dana Reeve Foundation. I also created two 3D logo slates which were shown during the beginning of the concert.

Demo video produced by Luxurious Animals.

Quixter
More Images:

Can you save the galaxy from the evil robot menace?! Find out in the intense arcade classic: Quixter! Made in-house at Luxurious Animals, I was tasked with coming up with a creative way to generate room-like levels. I also contributed a fair amount of design tweaks as well.

Conflict
More Images:

A set of two prints based on the concept of conflict on a molecular level. Using a modified air compressor with a tube attached to the nozzle, fine dirt was shot out against a white wall, resulting in small dust explosions. The over 100 photos were then brought into Photoshop and abstracted.

Audio Visualizations

Going back to my middle-school programming roots, I made several audio-visualization programs for the visbot.net group. Made using the Winamp Media Player’s Advanced Visualization Studio, all visuals were generated in real time and captured directly from the screen.

Any framerate inconsistencies are due to the screen capture program. The visuals normally run at 30 fps in real time.

Army Men
More Images:

A series of three photos with text, involving army men as a loose metaphor for organic vs. processed food. The original assignment was to finish the sentences “Green Is….”, “Community Is…”, and “Environment Is…” using text and photos. Determined to not do another environmental project, I figured it would be rather difficult to wrench an eco-concept from green army men in a fridge. But, you can still think of it as a battle of organic vs. processed food, if it makes you feel more “environmentally sensitive.”

Crash
More Images:

A short animated adventure involving two hands on a train cart. All elements are animated not by keyframes, but by a programmed system of constraints. Code was written using Cinema 4D’s Xpresso system.

Lighting advice and some background elements done by Mr. Ralph Mastromonaco.

Frustrated F

A short animation featuring a big letter F and some disobedient punctuation marks. All animation was done in After Effects.
